  3. The air pressure in the average car tyre is 2.2Bar, what do you think is the injection pressure of the modern diesel injector (common rail)?

    A. 18 bar
    B. 180 bar
    C. 1800 bar
    • Answer:
The injection pressure of earlier diesel vehicles was 130 bar, for the later 2 stage injection system it went to about 350 – 400 bar and now with common rail it is about 1800 bar.  It is so high that if there is a slight diesel leak from the diesel pipes and you run your hand over the leak during injection the force of the fuel will cut you hand to the bone – be careful!
