hello, i recently changed over the fuel pump and in the process due to swapping electronic solenoids over (old one broke and without a large enough extractor to remove it i had to drill/brake the thread out). in the process i caused swarf/filings to enter the pump. i believe the pump is in working order still as fuel is dispursing correctly. my problem is the engine doesnt like starting and runs rough, it kicks out alot of white smoke on idle and low RPM, i believe it is also running on only 3 cylinders. my thoughts are that the swarf may have ruined/blocked an or partly all the injectors. what would anyone recommend for me to try? is it worth me putting new injectors in? also how hard is injectors to clean/refurbish?

Hi Bpax01,

Is the pump number the same? it sounds as though the pump timing is out. The white smoke is an indication of incorrect timing. We can check your injectors F.O.C. if you are able to send them in. The only time an injector will cause white smoke is if it is dribbling fuel into the cylinder normally a sticking injector caused a knock and black smoke,
